Düppel was first noted in a raid on Bizerte, Tunisia on in early September 1943 and over Britain in a raid on Norwich a month later. It was used in the attack on Bari on 2 December 1943 and over the Anzio beach head, as well as in the Operation Steinbock attacks on Southern England. It was reportedly out of production by November 1944.
Ju 88s were probably the major users because they were the main bomber type but no doubt the Do 217, Ju 188 and He 177 units were using it over England too. Last edited by Nick Beale; 31st October 2014 at 12:11. Reason: typo |
