Re: Question concerning Ergänzungs Nahaufklärungsgruppe ‘Bromberg’.

Richard -

Your Bordschutze at Bromberg was undoubtedly cadre, probably an instructor. That is the only thing that would explain his year-long stay there.

I./Fernaufkl.Geschw. 101 at Großenhain and II./Fernaufkl.Geschw. 101 at Perleburg were strictly school units with no operational mission or components. I have all of their losses on microfiche and they were all training crashes.

Larry

I must admit that I did not consider that he might of been in the intructional cadre, rather I thought the length of assignment could of been down to aircraft unservicability, instructor availabilty or even shortage of aviation fuel as the war entered it's final stages.

There is nothing I can glean from his Soldbuch to indicate he might of been in an instructional post however, it is certainly a possibility as you have alluded to.

Anyway, thank you as always for your input Larry.

Regards Richard.

Thank you very much indeed for the images, of particular interest is the Staffel Wappen in the first image!

Regards Richard.

Re: Question concerning Ergänzungs Nahaufklärungsgruppe ‘Bromberg’.

The Wappen is for 3./Erg.Aufkl.Gr. and the animal appears to be a fanciful wild boar with a tusk and claws?? But what does the capital "U" signify? I can't connect the Staffel or Gruppe with any place name beginning with "U".
