Thanks for your answer. Actually an interesting answer. Indeed I'm not sure this attack was led by the RAF but except the RAF, I don't see who might have attack.... Furthermore perhaps the veteran is wrong and the ship wasn't in Hamburg but I rely on him because it isn't the kind of remembering that one easily forgets. I also confirmed that they were English aircrafts. Perhaps the raid was led during the night but I don't think this was a Bomber Command raid because of the particuarity of the targets : ships. Wasn't only the Coastal Command in charge of this kind of target ? I'm not sure that bombers would have flow at low altitude, I mean so low that the German aboard the Sperrbrecher thought they had a chance to hit the plane(s) with their low range flame-thrower.
