Hi Chris,
For what it's worth, there appears to be a different photo of your second Fw 190 on p. 48 in Vol. 2 of Dora Kurfurst und Rote 13/Karl Ries (1964) which is wrongly captioned: Eine Kette FW 190 A-1 auf ihrem Liegeplatz im besetzten Frankreich. Beim vorderen Flugzeug (gelbe7) wird gerade der Motor abgebremst. The black lightning motif seen behind the engine exhaust appears to be an incomplete rendition of "der stilisierte Adler" seen on the Fw 190 As of III./JG2 on p. 64 of Vol. 1 of the same series. best regards, Jim
