Does the translation not ring a bell in connection with the well known compass-calibration disc? But only one wheel? May be due to lack of space on the disc, especially if Ju52s also were calibrated there? Who knows more?

I confess I used Altavista translation then "interpreted" it´s significance... Your explanation for the compass calibration sounds more plausive.
