Re: 8./ KG40 loss
During the intervening years Chris G has found different data and said in his Fw 200 book that the aircraft
had been on an armed reconnaissance along the Spanish/Portuguese coast and hit the ground SE of Rennes during their approach to land. No doubt Chris himself will clarify things here. Chris With regard to the name of one of the crew, your book says Fl Hpt Naut Herbert Burmeister-Naut. Was his work title 'Naut' really also included in his family name? Also what was a Fl Hpt Naut?
