Re: A-26 or A-20 at Corregidor 1945
The 2 A-26 Groups were the 3rd (Fifth AF) and 319th (Seventh AF); the 3rd flew a few mixed A-20 / A-26 missions from 6 August when they arrived on Okinawa.
The 319th set up on Okinawa (Kadena) the first A-26s landing on 6 July, first mission on the 16th. to the Miyakonojo marshalling yards; their last was on 12 August (22 missions). They had just started painting their tails in the Group colour. In August the total A-26s (Pacific) was 248 in 1st. line service ( 295 A-20s). ( USAAF Statistical Summary). Nick |
