Re: Photo Hanriot Aircraft
Some very interesting shots there Clint
The date 1 May 1919 indicates it was the first conversion made and since no US Navy BuNo is visible also indicate they were painted on the aircraft post conversion. The four blade prop is interesting as well. Not seen that before. Venturing a guess I would say that one was A5620 The photo dated 27 June 1919 looks like A5626 to me. What do you think? The aircraft equipped with flotation gear was A5629. But what is the aircraft which is not a Hanriot (photo date 13 Sep 1923)? Have I seen that before?? ![]() Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Hanriot Aircraft
Hi Stig,
Ah, possibly talking at cross purposes. I was referring to the photo in the original Hanriot (we've come a long way from Hanriot!) post. Am I wrong or is that not in fact a different engine to that shown on Nick's link to the various NAF machines and TS-2 particularly, and perhaps a Wright engine. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Hanriot Aircraft
To me they look very much the same.
It certainly is no Wright-Hispano E-2 Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Hanriot Aircraft
Hi Stig,
Four cylinders per side, long exhaust pipe a la VE-7. No exhaust pipe on Nick's link. Given the air cooling is not coming from the front of the aircraft as in a VE-7 or a Spad come to that, but from the underside of the fuselage, while I can by no means say it is definitely a Wright engine, what leads you to the certainty that it cannot be a Wright engine? Re: Photo Hanriot Aircraft
Just a feeling Clint
I admit I have not seen any TS-3 (who got the Wright-Hispano engine) but the photo of the TR-3 which also had the Wright-Hispano engine looks different. Admittedly they could have changed the engine cowlings/spinners and so on, but I will list it as a TS-2 until something comes up which makes me change my mind. Cheers Stig |
