Re: JGr.176 (09/1939)
We went with the date 29.9.1939 in our ZG 76 book as the date of their loss in mid air collision.
Maybe the 27.9. was a mistake due to a similarity of claims of French airmen. Peter

Re: JGr.176 (09/1939)
You can find the loss in the Military Archive dated 29.09.1939. I strongly beleive it was the 29th.
Just looked it up. I´m interested in the mission itself. Any details? Thanks Rolf |

Re: JGr.176 (09/1939)
It was an air collision during mission...no further details.
"...pursued a French aircraft northeast of Freiburg. During the attack attempts, a pair of Bf 109s collided with each other. A Staffelkapitän Oblt. Friedrich-Karl Rhinow got out successfully of his crippled aircraft. His colleague Uffz. Ernst Köpke wasn´t so lucky and remained trapped in his Bf 109. Both Bf 109 crashed near Triberg."
