I received selected parts of the 826 Squadron War Diary from Kew on request, but it is pretty thin on detail. Thus far I have not found any FAA records comparable to the ORBs kept by the RAF.

FAA Museum at Yeovilton might have something more but as Tim says many of such records appear to have been destroyed or lost over the years

Re: Albacore in Egypt, 1942

I received this response from the Fleet Air Arm Museum regarding 826 and 849 Squadrons. It provides some guidance but, as mentioned, the records I got from Kew are not very detailed….

‘Unfortunately we do not appear to hold the record books for either of those squadrons for those dates.

826 Squadron record book for April 1933 to September 1943 is held at the National Archives under AIR 27/2387. They also appear to hold 826 diaries for:
March 1940 – February 1946 under ADM 207/22
February to May 1943 under ADM 207/24

849 Squadron diary for September 1944 to October 1945 is held by the National Archives under ADM 207/32’.
