3 victory over P-38 15-04-1944 over Germany
3 P-38 were shot down on this date. They belonged to yellow flight, consisting of yellow flight, Capt. Orville E. Myers, flight leader, 2nd Lt. Fred F. Kingsbury, and 2nd Lt. Edward L. Henkle
Edward L Henkle 756570 pilot POW P-38 42-104214 ( 364th Fighter Group 384th Fighter Squadron) enemy aircraft 15-04-1944 crashed Groze Holzwinde near Oldendorf 13:30 MACR 3895 15-04-1944 Orville E. Myers 659167 Pilot KIA P-38 42-67737 (364th Fighter Group 384th Fighter Squadron) enemy fighters crashed Muehorn / Totenburg-Zeven Gr MACR 3892 15-04-1944 Fred F. Kingsbury 750615 Pilot KIA P-3842-67240 ( 364th Fighter Group 384th Fighter Squadron) enemy aircraft crashed near Ottersberg Gr. MACR 3891 15-04-1944 Who could have been the victors if indeed they were shot down by enemy fighters ( that is the cause given in J-845 for Edward L Henkle) Thanks in advance |

JG 11 claimed 11 P-38s on this date. Only locations are Ofw Schulz 9./JG 11 Rotenburg; Hptm Rolf Hermichen Stab I./JG 11 Rotenburg & Zeven

This was FO.299 strafing airfields; 11 P-38s were lost, 364FG 8, 55FG 3.
385FS: Capt. Dominy KIA, Capt. Reynolds KIA, Lt. Sims POW, Lt. Street KIA. 384FS: Lt. Moore POW, Lt. Henkle POW, Capt. Myers KIA, Lt.Kingsbury KIA. 55th. losses probably all Flak. Some other losses due to the bad weather. All 364th KIA are on the Group's Memorial at the Mighty Eighth AF Museum in Georgia. Nick |

Chris I think Hermichen may have shot down 2 of the 384th P-38s, Henkle, Myers and Kingsbury were last seen low down near Verden about 13.50; Moore was near Stade airfield N. of Rotenburg. I believe Hermichen made 2 claims.

@ buckeye30 i will come across Capt. Orville E. Myers, flight leader, 2nd Lt. Fred F. Kingsbury, If the German files also say fighter i am inclined to think the were bounced by JG 11
Interesting to know if claimants noted the position of claim. |

From what I have seen, only the two pilots I mention noted the locations

That would be straling height makes for me that the flight was bounced more subsational.
