Re: Hans Krause-zwei Halifaxes shot down
Stig,
Sorry,I should have written out the entire title but I got lazy.Yes, i have the second edition, published in 1989 which is entirely in German. In my mind, this edition is esential for any Luftwaffe histirian since it has much more detail than the first edition. Carlos |

Re: Hans Krause-zwei Halifaxes shot down
At the risk of getting back to the original topic (well, almost) is this "Cap Ancona" the Ancona on the Adriatic Coast of Italy?
If so, how did a 6./NJG 101 aircraft come to be there in November 1944? It's a long way from Parndorf, Austria (which is where Gebhard Aders' "History of the German Night Fighter Force" puts II./NJG 101 in November of '44): about 500 km in a straight line. Also, this wasn't a period with much German activity over the Adriatic by night and what there was was meticulously logged by MAAF Signals Intelligence: usually recon flights by 4. and 6.(F)/122 with the occasional agent dropping mission by 4./KG 200. None of this makes the presence of a German night fighter off Ancona impossible but it would be highly unusual, if not unique. |

Re: Hans Krause-zwei Halifaxes shot down
On 17th November 1944 Hauptmann Krause started this mission in Parndorf at 20.11 h, he landed there at 23.45 h, more than three and a half our later. His plane was a Ju 88 C or G at this time. Location of where he shoot down the two "Halifax" was named "Planquadrat 25", Cap Ancona. His crew where Oberfeldwebel Otto Zinn (Bordfunker) and Oberfeldwebel Friedrich Specht (Schütze/Mechaniker).
Perhaps HANS KRAUSE can say more details of this mission, he´s still alive today. |
