Re: Gottfried Dulias
John,
Is that € 30,- a request for a donation? We could set up Dulias research fund through Paypal in no time. Full name, date and place of birth shouldn't be beyond the ability of Herr Dulias to remember, right? If he's actually proven to be genuine, then I propose we start another fund and donate the earnings to whatever good cause that Herr Dulias sees fit.

Re: Gottfried Dulias
Personally, I'd contribute to a research fund just to put an end to this discussion. If the man is who he claims, the facts should come out and his place in history confirmed. If the story is a fabrication, that should come out and put this to rest, once and for all.
Not sure of the accuracy of the info, but here's the basics that were requested: "Gottfried P. Dulias was born on June 25, 1925 in Koenigsberg, the capital of former East Prussia, Germany. He was the third child of Paul and Lucie Dulias. The family’s ultimate settling in June of 1939 to Fuerstenfeldbruck (near Munich) in Bavaria followed a move in 1934 to Osterode." source: http://www.luftwaffereenactors.org/Dulias.htm or, via a photo of his display at Geneseo, NY: Name: Lt. Gottfried Paul Johannes Dulias Last edited by riffraff; 16th May 2007 at 20:18. Reason: add bio info |

Re: Gottfried Dulias
Hello all,
As I posted earlier I am working on my thesis about Mr. Dulias. I am still busy with it. I’m comparing Mr Dulias’ book with several books, mainly Prien’s JG 53 series. Finding information regarding the information Dulias gives on his operational time with JG53 and verifying this information with several other books. However Dulias’s account of his training and his time in the Russian POW camps is much harder to check in current reference books. I would be happy to pay for any information from the official Russian archives. Could anyone post a link or give me an address to where this information can be requested. I would also be happy to - of course with Mr. Dulias permission - to check the WASt archives on records regarding his World War 2 history. Regards, Thijs Lepstra |

Re: Gottfried Dulias
Hei,
Perhaps our German friends of the Luftarchiv site are able to tell us more about this person. http://www.luftwaffe-bullet-board.com/ Best regards, Mathieu |

Re: Gottfried Dulias
Thijs,
well, if you really want to pursue this further; http://www.suchreferat-moskau.de/Unt...che_index.html they can probably provide information on the Russian period. Please note that you do not need permission to get info from the former ZNS Aachen archives. Just write to the WAST and ask for copies of any records from the former ZNS Aachen records concerning Lt. Gottfried Dulias. Only WASt records themselves are currently not open. I will check the records of DRK Suchdienst myself if Lt. Gottfried Dulias was ever recorded as "Heimkehrer". cheers, John. |

Re: Gottfried Dulias
I heard a radio interview with Dulias a couple of months ago. I am not an expert, as many of the posters on this Forum are, but I have read most of the literature published in the English language on the subject. The interviewers were not experts.
Dulias said that he had fought Spitfires in the fall of 1944, but not American fighters, while stationed in "Northern Germany with JG 53." Despite being a novice, he brought down a Spitfire after a long dogfight. In early 1945, he was in Hungary and shot down "3 Ratas." Dulias said that the Russians "were throwing in everything," which explained the Ratas. When asked if he had met anyone famous, he mentioned Erich Hartmann. Dulias said, "The only time I met Erich Hartmann was when taxiing out for a mission, Hartmann was landing. We waved to each other." Asked if he ever met Adolf Galland, Dulias said, "I never met Galland." Dulias then said, "I met Gunther Rall 3 years ago. I had breakfast with him when Rall appeared in Washington DC." Rall must have enjoyed this. Dulias said that he was going to pick up Walter Schuck at the airport when Schuck came for an airshow in Reading, Pennsylvania. "Walter's English isn't so good," he said. Dulias then gave details about Schuck that were word for word out of Trevor and Constable's book. Dulias told of his combat tactics while shooting down 5 planes in a 109. "I used the 3 cm cannon in the nose. I only fired one shot for each victory." |

I think this is him, signing his book. Are there any other luftwaffe veterans who sign their books dressed like this? Dennis |

Re: Gottfried Dulias
To me after researching and forming my own opinion on this man! this is a pitiful, Sad yet comical photo you have posted here Dennis....I am printing it off to add to the free signed photo of him I received.
Man O Man.... I suppose this fellow will carry on the charade untill sadly his Heart Vapor Locks! I really do hope for his sake the truth is out there in his favour, I just feel that the truth is out there for all to see, and he may have fooled a few, or actually a hell of a lot of people....But not most of you or myself. I will Jump in line with an apology if ever proof surfaces. Sad....Sad.... Sad. Great photo though Dennis, perhaps I can have it signed? Any chance of that Mr. D? Kevin Weisner
