Re: Sidearm For Pilots?
Hi MauserMan1937 !
From two recoveries of German JG-pilots, downed in December 1944, I know that one carried a 9mm FN Browning and the other one carried a 9 mm Luger 08 as sidearm. The sidearm-market in German occupied Europe was well equipped with pistols, as Delmenhorst mentioned. Additionally, one came with his private pistol, purchased by his daddy or grandfather. Since the equipment with sidearms to JG-Pilots was sure not priority No. 1 in the daily work of the Luftwaffe, I think, that you will never get a satisfiying answer to your questiion. When I'm flyxng and I want a sidearm, I get one. But then I have to receive, what is on stock. This is mostly a Luger 08 or a "Beutepistole". Best regards, Horst Weber |
