So the 262 they took apart in July 1945 and shipped back to the USA is now on display at the USAF Museum. Yah right.

The Museum's 262 was 'captured' at Munchen-Riem by the 54th ADS and flown to Lechfeld by a Lt R Strobell of Watson's Whizzers. Along with 8 other 262s, WNr 501232, 'Yellow 5' was then flown on June 10, 1945 to Cherbourg to be loaded on HMS Reaper.

Stuttgart is also ~200km from Munchen-Riems.
