Some details about two of the S.79.

One of them (with white training strips over wings) it's the aircraft coded MAL-39 (MM 21298) of the Malpensa school that flew from Malpensa to Milazzo (Sicily) after the armistice of the 8 september 1943. This aircraft then went to Korba (Tunisia).

The full code of the S.79 of the NAS is "1NS-20" (MM 22016). Some years ago, some viodeotapes with footage taken by US Combat Camera Unit were published in Italy: one of the short movies contained in them shows this very S.79 on the ground and in fligth over the sea. This aircraft was "stolen" at Fano by torpedo aces Cap. Giulio Cesare Graziani, Cap. Franco Prati and Alfredo Pulsetti that, with two airmen, reached Catania on 13 september 1943. It's possible that this aircraft went to Korba too. These three officer are shown in the movie together a USAAF officer near this aircraft.
