Re: I.ZG 76 code

I have no I./ZG 76 photoes, but have one from 4./ZG 76.
2 Bf110 in flight, with codes m8+KM and m8+SM.

http://pics.livejournal.com/bersrk/pic/00001sgf

It confirmes that ZG 76 had M8 code, and ZG 1 - 2N, and John said.

This is photoe of several Bf110 from II./ZG 1.

http://pics.livejournal.com/bersrk/pic/0000257c

I found, that pilot standing in center (1st right from fueltank of Bf110 on background) is seem to be Hptm. Egon Albrecht
, Gr.Kdr. II./ZG 1.
His photoe: http://www.luftwaffe.cz/images/albrecht.jpg

This clearly shows code of II./ZG 1 - 2N.

Re: I.ZG 76 code

Thanks Eugen.

It is nice evidence...and correct. It is interesting that on Me 410, I do not know if also earlier, II./ ZG 76 used M8 in combination with digits (numbers). Has anyone idea Why did they abandoned the letters and started to use digits? Erg/ZG 76 used letters , but just one (white G, yellow Y etc...)

Re: I.ZG 76 code

Hmm... I dont know. I have only 1 photoe of Me410A "Gelbe 7" from 6./ZG 26.

Another proof of M8+ code of ZG 76 in 1944:

Hauptmann Johannes Kiel, standing near Bf110G-2 from 7./ZG 76.
Look in area near his sigarette, to right from it. You can see small letter "m" on the fuselage, the first letter of "m8+?R" code.

Best wishes, Evgeniy.

Re: I.ZG 76 code

Zerstörer units in the Reichsverteidigung did use numbers, just like the fighterunits for a short time spring 1944!

Extract from WASt-Verlustmeldung II/ZG 26, Me 410:
20.02.44 Lost black 1+
21.02.44 Lost white 3+
Latest end march 44 they went back to use 4 digit code!

Attached image of Me 410 II/ZG 26!

Re: I.ZG 76 code

Me410, code is inclear - may be "mn" ? "Schwarz 2"+

http://pics.livejournal.com/bersrk/pic/00006a14

Me410, code is not seen beside the wing, but number is "Gelbe 7" + -, 6./ZG 26. Note "Clog" badge on the engine.

Re: I.ZG 76 code

Thanks Eugene,

Black 2, notoriously known picture, many times mistakenly identified as I Gruppe. In fact II Gruppe a/c.
yellow 7, no side back aiming guns...high altitude fighter modification...no further code except the digit 7 was applied...
I have them both as color profiles
