ID of Staffel Kap for 6./ZG 26 in late-39 to May 1940
Hello,
I'm looking for info on who was the Staffelkap. of 6./ZG26 during the transition of the unit from the Bf-109D to the Bf110B/C during October to December, 1939. Prien in his JFV #2 lists it as Hptm. Karl Planer until 30.11.39, but beyond that is an info gap until Theodor Rossiwall, who moved from StaKap of 6./ZG26 to take over 5./ZG26 on 19.5.40. Is it known when Planer gave up command, and when Rossiwall took over? One source reports tentative info that Rossiwall moved from III./ZG26 to II./ZG 26 on 1.5.40. Was this when he took over 6 Staffel? Was anyone else assigned in between Planer and Rossiwall? Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: ID of Staffel Kap for 6./ZG 26 in late-39 to May 1940
Here’s what our notes say about this period:
PLANER, Karl (Kurt?). 01.02.39 (Oblt.?) appt Staka 6./ZG 142. 01.05.39 appt Staka 6./ZG 26. BIER, August-Wilhelm. Date of birth: 11.08.16. 01.09.39 Oblt., in ZG 26. 19.06.40 Oblt., Stafü 6./ZG 26 WIA when bombed at Boos-Rouen airfield. –probably means 19.05.40 ROSSIWALL, Theodor. Date of birth: 12.10.15 in Wien. 01.07.39 Oblt., trf from I./JG 88 to ZG 26. 09.39 in III./ZG 26. 19.05.40 Oblt., Staka 5./ZG 26, appt Staka 6./ZG 26. There appears to be some confusion circa 19.05.40 but I suspect that the above is correct. We hope this helps…. LdZ DGS |
