No. 92 Squadron 1939-45 information sources

Good day.

I am looking for information about no. 92 squadron. So far I've managed to gather only few sources - ORB from September 1939 to December 1940, G.Wellum's book, N. Duke's diary, and some books about campaigns in which "East India" squadron took part, e.g.: Aircraft of the Aces (nos. 12 and 16), Spitfires over Sicily, Air Battle for Dunkirk and the book about the Battle of France (unfortunately I forgot the title). Can you recommend andy book, web site where I can find any iformation. Maybe there are people or organizations to whom I shoud write.
Thanks for any help.

Dominik

Hi Dominik,
There is a book about 92 squadron during the Battle of Britain entitled 'Best of the Few'. It was written by Michael Robinson and has plenty of information regarding the Squadron and its personnel during that period.

Unfortunately the book is unavailable. I hope the author will release it once again.

Re: No. 92 Squadron 1939-45 information sources

I am currently doing some work on 92 Squadron but note in AIR27/743 that there seems to be no "Detail of Work Carried Out" prior to May 1940. At least, they are not on TNA microfilms. However, I am wondering if they have been missed during the microfilming process and might, perhaps, exist in the original squadron ORB? I have come across a similar situation once or twice with other squadron.

Does anybody have any knowledge of pre May 1940 "Work Carried Out" pages in 92 Sqn's ORB?

Re: No. 92 Squadron 1939-45 information sources

It's me again. I've just bought another book where I found information about the Squadron - Spitfire Aces of North Africa and Italy. The bibliography includes three books - Air War Italy 1944-45, Fighters over Tunisia and Fighters over Desert. I thought about buying these books but the prices are horrible. Does anyone have them?
Thank you in advance

Dominik

PS. Does anyone have contact with two authors - Peter Caygill and Christopher Shores?

You can try www.92squadron.com
History of 92, online, by a former pilot of the Squadron in the seventies, Simon Morris.
