Mag the Hag II, 92nd BG, Merseburg, B-17 production details
How do I get info about when (start and end) and where a particular B-17 was produced? Any production details are welcome, like subcontractors producing components, even a factory photo of the this airframe on the assembly line, if such a picture would exist.
I am writing a story as some of you know about the loss Mag the Hag II, a B-17G with the 92nd BG, was shot out from its formation by Lt. Manfred Dieterle of 2./JG 300 (flying Red 7 that day) on the Sep 13, 1944 mission to Merseburg. Mag the Hag II was Boeing-built B-17G-10-BO, serial number 42-31250 and received from New Castle Army Air Base, Wilmington, Delaware, and put on the 92nd’s books on December 2, 1943. Fuselage codes were UX-B. I found a pic a Mag the Hag II getting the large white triangle and black B painted on her vertical tail surface, a rare pic to be sure. Thanks very much |
