Group Captain Frank Cromwell Griffiths DFC AFC Croix de Guerre
I'm trying to trace the early RAF career of Frank Griffiths. He was a pilot with 138 Sqn who was an 'escape and evader' after his Halifax JD180 was lost on 14th August 1943 dropping supplies for SOE.
I know he joined the RAF in 1936 and would be grateful to know where he learnt to fly up to his time at RAF Cranfield with 62 Sqn? I have details of everything after 62 Sqn right through WW2 to his return and second tour with TFU but I have also seen reference to him being CO of 138 Sqn in June 1945. Is that true? Thanks in advance
