Re: Blohm & Voss BV 138 - successful pilots

Good morning James,

I don't necessarily mean aerial kills.
This article provides a very good impression of the BV 138 service:
https://www.key.aero/article/flying-clog
but the pilots mentioned therein represent rather the losses.
Is any pilot known who achieved something positive ?

I wish you a good fourth Advent,
Michael

Documents contains some Bv.138's successes, but without any names or even plane's specifications as code or Wr.Nr.

Re: Blohm & Voss BV 138 - successful pilots

A real workhorse.
For Xmas I wished for the OSPREY Do24 volume.
The number of BV138's built is higher than the number of Do24's.
Do you think there will be a BV138 OSPREY volume one day?
The writer could combine it with the BV222...

Re: Blohm & Voss BV 138 - successful pilots

I've found only one pilot of a Bv138 unit who was decorated with the German Cross in Gold: Oblt. Kurt Thiele, member of the Trondheim-based 2./406, got this decoration on 24.June 1943. No further infos of this officer

Re: Blohm & Voss BV 138 - successful pilots

I have some 12 BV 222 pilots listed in a FB and Modrow (who was also a Do 26 pilot) is not one of them, he coming into prominence as a night fighter pilot. To say these pilots were notable for doing transport jobs is a difficult one to prove
