If anyone can add anything to the loss mentioned above plus that on 14 November 1940 subsequently posted by Alain57 I would be grateful.

I had 29th Oct day attack on Ramsgate by 15 BR20's with fighter escort, one force landed on return ( Mag. Feretti ? which Alain has as 30th.) and 4 others damaged by AA. I assume the one at Stene on the 29th was one of those damaged by AA which landed with crew unhurt and Alain has the crew information which I have not seen before.

Hi Alain,

Could you check the date of MM22624 which you have on 27th Oct. I have Av. Paolini as inj. on 24th Oct. (later killed 11th. Nov). Luft. QMs return dated 27th Oct has three BR20 losses on 24th Oct ( under KG13) one crashed on take off at Houthen 100% 6 killed (MM21928 ? ), one at Lustin with 6 injured, and one at Reisel. All are shown as Feindflug which I assume was the night attack on Folkstone/Harwich 24/25th. Oct.

Thanks

Hi Brian ;

Indeed MM22624 was lost during the night of 24/25 october. The radio operator Serg Magg Paolini was wounded at his foot due to the bail out.

Greetings
Alain

Re: Italian Losses in 1940/41 while Based in Belgium.

Hello,
24-10-40
MM21895 Cap. F. Bassi, 3rd Squadron
MM22624 Ten. M. Pesso, 3rd Squadron
Bassi's crew baled -Cambrai area
Pesso's crew baled Namur-Charleroi, a/c crashed in Lustin. 1Av. Armando Paolini wounded.
Capt. u. Machieraldo forcelanded at Lille Epinoy, a/c damaged.

27-10-40
MM22624, 5th Squadron
Ten. M. Pesso
Sgt Magg Paolini wounded

The above info is taken from the link that was kindly given in an earlier post.

So perhaps the crews are correct but serial numbers in error (?)
Any info on the a/c in Squadron numbers ?
Each Br20 Squadron had 19 a/c.

As an extra, I found in Augusts Scale Aircraft Modelling a very good article on the "Chianti Raiders".

Alex
