Smile Re: Does somebody know some production details of Wellington Z1207

Hello ,

Found this info :

The Wellington Mk. IV was powered by two US Pratt and Whitney Twin Wasp fourteen cylinder R-1830 engines. It had the smallest production run of all the marks that saw squadron service, with no more than 220 being produced at the Chester factories. These equipped two Polish squadrons (300 and 301 Sqn) and one RAAF (460 Sqn) squadron.

Alain/René

I can only find 195 Mk IV built
Z1182-1183, Z1202-1221, Z1243-1292, Z1311-1345, Z1375-1424, Z1459-1496.
The Putnam book mentions both figures, but I can't locate the other 25 serial numbers.

Z1207 was delivered about late June/early July 1941. It was used by only one operational unit, 142 Sq, before going missing on the Emden raid 20-21.1.1942.

Alain, as far as I know also 305 (Polish) Sqn and 458 Sqn RAAF also used this version of Wellington.
