Translation help
Hi guys
Translating a German to English document. I have the following: Vorhandener Flugbetriebsstoff müsse, mit Ausnahme eines eisernen Bestandes für Durchführung der befohlenen Verlegung der fliegenden Verbände, in erster Linie für Durchführung der Kfz.-Marschbewegungen verwandt werden. as: Existing aviation fuel, with the exception of an emergency ‘iron stock’ for the ordered relocation of the air units, had to be used primarily for vehicle movements. My question is - why would aviation fuel be used in vehicles? Or am I missing something.... thanks

Re: Translation help
Hello richdlc,
the transport of aviation fuel in fuel trucks was a matter of priority. This does not mean that the vehicles were to refuel with aviation fuel. Regards Leo |

Re: Translation help
many thanks...
not quite sure what the sentence is supposed to mean though.

Re: Translation help
On the evening of January 26, 1943, the quartermaster of Air Fleet 4 announced that a significant supply of aviation fuel could no longer be expected; even the requested airborne fuel could not be flown out. Existing aviation fuel, with the exception of a fixed supply for the ordered deployment of the airborne units, had to be used primarily for the vehicle marches. The fuel train with B-4s from Bataysk, promised as compensation, was emptied by army units en route; a second announced fuel train could not be found. The forwarding of a third fuel train with B-4s to Krasnodar was uncertain due to track disruptions near Krapotkin, thus calling into question the deployment of the airborne units in the Caucasus region.

Re: Translation help
B4 had 87 ROZ. So it should be possible to use this
fuel for other engines as well. In this case they could use it for the Kfz, but they have to keep at least a final reserve for the aircraft. Stefan |
