Re: Swiss Bf109E

Also meant to add that the last photo in post #1 shows the signal rocket equipment which could be loaded with red, green and white rockets. The excerpt below, from Bf109E Ersatzteil-Liste, also appears on page 224 of "Messerschmitt Me109 in Swiss Air Force Service" by G.Hoch, Schiffer, 2008]

Cheers

Re: Swiss Bf109E

Just find this machine before conversion:

Strange thing, maybe the issue with color material, but does not look green at the top.

Re: Swiss Bf109E

According to the photographs the Swiss Bf 109s were delivered without weapons in RLM 70/71 Luftwaffe camouflage and with an empty MG17 engine cover and little difference between the two green tones like on many Luftwaffe 109Es.
When Swiss MG 29s were installed fom August ´39 onwards the engine covers were re-designed and a single Swiss green camo (KW2) similar to the German colours was applied on the fuselage nose. When new Swiss markings had to be applied in spring ´40 KW2 was used for all upper surfaces.

Regards

Roland

Re: Swiss Bf109E

Do you have info about the KW2 color, local manufacture paint? Also, do you have German W.Nr. for this particular machine?

Re: Swiss Bf109E

KW2 color produced by swiss manufacturer is very close to original RLM 70 black-green paint.
J-555 was built in Arado Warnemünde plant, W.Nr. 2422

Thank you for this information. Is it also true for the Swiss Bf109Ds?
